Chilli Oil Noodles

Report
Chilli Oil Noodles feature udon noodles tossed in a flavorful mixture of sautéed shallots, garlic, and spicy chilli oil, balanced with soy sauce and honey. The dish combines a chewy noodle texture with the heat and fragrance from the chilli oil and sesame oil. Garnished with sesame seeds, spring onions, and cilantro, it delivers fresh, crunchy, and aromatic contrast to the warm noodles.

Description

This Chilli Oil Noodles recipe uses cooked udon noodles combined with a sauce made by gently cooking diced shallots and crushed garlic in sesame oil before adding chilli oil for heat. Soy sauce provides saltiness, and honey adds a touch of sweetness to balance the spice. These flavors coat the noodles, which are tender enough to hold the sauce well without becoming mushy.

The dish finishes with a sprinkling of toasted sesame seeds, fresh sliced spring onions, and chopped cilantro, adding texture and brightness. The cooking method involves simmering noodles briefly, while sauce components are cooked separately and then combined to maintain distinct flavors.

Serve as a quick lunch or light dinner. The noodles pair well with simple protein additions or stir-fried vegetables if desired. The recipe allows for flexibility in noodle type and adjusting chili intensity.

For variations, fresh grated ginger can be included for extra aroma. Adjust cooking times according to the noodle brand. Additional soy sauce can be added at serving if preferred. Including meat will alter cooking duration and requires planning accordingly.
