Chipotle Chili with Hominy

Chipotle Chili with Hominy combines ground beef, kidney beans, and hominy simmered with chipotle peppers and a blend of spices. The masa harina thickens the chili while adding a subtle corn flavor. This hearty stew balances smoky chipotle heat with savory seasonings, resulting in a rich, filling dish that holds well for a comforting meal served with classic toppings like cheddar, sour cream, avocado, and tortilla chips.

Description

The Chipotle Chili with Hominy is a robust stew where ground beef and aromatics are cooked with a complex blend of chili powder, cumin, onion, and garlic powders, along with masa harina which not only thickens but imparts a mild corn flavor. Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce contribute smoky heat and depth, balanced by diced tomatoes and tomato sauce that create a rich tomato base.

Kidney beans and hominy provide hearty texture and substance, making the chili filling and texturally interesting. Simmering the chili for 30-40 minutes melds the flavors and softens the hominy while allowing the masa to fully thicken the sauce.

This chili is served with traditional accompaniments such as shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, fresh cilantro, avocado, and tortilla chips, which add creaminess, brightness, and crunch. This makes the chili a complete meal suitable for casual dinners or game day gatherings.
