Chocolate Banana Bread

Chocolate banana bread takes regular banana bread to a whole new level! Rich and chocolatey with a good balance of banana flavor.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter one stick
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 egg large
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups flour all purpose
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 3 banana ripe
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350º F. 
  2. Cream butter and sugar together for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy. 
  3. Add 2 eggs and cream together again for 1-2 more minutes. 
  4. Add the vanilla and ripe bananas, whole, to the bowl. Mix until combined and the bananas are mixed in. 
  5. Mix the semi-sweet chocolate chips into the dry ingredients. Add the mixture to the bowl and mix until just combined - do not overmix. 
  6. Pour into a greased loaf pan (see note) and sprinkle mini chocolate chips over the top. 
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs on it.

Notes

  • I use a standard size loaf pan - 9 in x 5 in. If you have 2 smaller pans, that is also fine. Just adjust the baking time by about 15 minutes.
