Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

Chocolate Buttercream Frosting is a creamy, rich topping combining whipped salted butter, unsweetened cocoa powder, melted semi-sweet chocolate, and instant coffee dissolved in cream. Icing sugar is added gradually to reach a smooth, spreadable consistency. The frosting offers deep chocolate flavor balanced by a hint of coffee and a smooth texture suitable for cakes or cupcakes.

Description

This frosting starts by melting semi-sweet chocolate squares gently, allowing them to cool before incorporation. Salted butter is whipped until light and fluffy, then cocoa powder is added and mixed in thoroughly. The cooled chocolate is blended into the butter mixture. Instant coffee dissolved in heavy cream is introduced to enhance the chocolate depth subtly.

Powdered sugar is added in increments while beating to form a thick yet creamy frosting. Adjusting the texture is done by adding small amounts of cream gradually to reach desired spreadability. The result is a glossy, smooth frosting with a balanced chocolate and mild coffee flavor profile.

This frosting is suitable for spreading or piping on baked goods, offering a rich and smooth finish that complements chocolate cakes or desserts. It holds well at room temperature and can be refrigerated if needed, allowing it to firm slightly before use.
