Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe for Two

A small batch chocolate chip cookie recipe making two to three cookies with a tender, chewy texture and a balanced sweetness from a blend of brown and granulated sugars. The dough is prepared with melted butter and egg yolk, delivering rich flavor with gooey chocolate chips throughout. Baking at 350°F yields a lightly golden edge and soft center that continues to set after removal from the oven.

Description

This chocolate chip cookie recipe focuses on a small yield of two to three cookies, ideal for when a full batch is unnecessary. The dough is mixed starting with melted salted butter combined with both brown sugar and granulated sugar for complexity in sweetness and moisture. Egg yolk and vanilla provide richness and subtle flavor, folded together with all-purpose flour and baking soda to create a tender crumb.

Incorporating chocolate chips distributes melted pockets of chocolate, enhancing the texture and indulgence. Cookies are dropped onto parchment and baked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes until edges begin to set while centers stay soft. They continue firming slightly on the warm pan once out of the oven.

The recipe is suited for a quick homemade treat portioned for one or two people. It encourages careful monitoring during baking to avoid overbaking and promote a soft cookie that is not dry or crisp.

Ingredients

  • 4 Tablespoons butter melted, salted
  • 4 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a microwave-safe bowl, heat butter for about 30 seconds in the microwave until melted. Stir in brown sugar and sugar and stir well until the sugars begin to dissolve and the mixture becomes smooth.
  2. Add egg yolk and vanilla and stir well.
  3. Fold in flour and baking soda and stir together. Fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Drop cookie dough onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet. This will make two to three cookies, depending on size. I suggest a light-colored baking sheet for all of my cookie recipes. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Don't overbake as the cookies will continue to bake on the warm cookie sheet once removed from the oven.

Notes

  • If using unsalted butter, add 1/8 teaspoon salt to balance the flavor.
