Chocolate Chip Pie

Chocolate Chip Pie combines a buttery pie crust filled with a rich, thick custard-like batter made from eggs, sugars, and butter, studded generously with semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped pecans. The final baked pie has a firm yet creamy texture with pockets of melted chocolate and a crunchy nutty contrast. Baked slowly to a golden finish, it’s well suited for serving warm alongside ice cream or whipped cream as a comforting dessert.

Description

Chocolate Chip Pie starts with a deep-dish unbaked pastry shell filled with a dense mixture of beaten eggs, flour, granulated and brown sugars, and softened butter. Vanilla extract adds a subtle aroma while semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped pecans provide textural variety and richness. The pie is baked at a moderate temperature for nearly an hour until set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean, indicating a proper bake without overcooking.

The pie’s texture balances a soft and moist custard base with pockets of melted chocolate and crunchy nuts, creating a blend of creamy, sweet, and nutty flavors. A foil tent can be used late in baking to prevent the crust from browning excessively.

This dessert is well-suited for serving warm, making it a nice choice to pair with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream to add creaminess and freshness to each bite.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 pie pastry unbaked, 9-inch deep dish
  • 2 egg large
  • 1/2 /2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 /2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 /2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 /4 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Nestle brand
  • 1 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
  2. Beat eggs in large mixer bowl on high speed until foamy and pale in color. Beat in flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla. Beat in butter until combined.
  3. Stir in morsels and nuts. Spoon into pie shell. The mixture will be thick.
  4. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes or until knife inserted halfway between edge and center comes out clean. You may want to make a foil tent over the pie towards the end so the crust doesn't brown too much. Cool on wire rack. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
