Chocolate Cobbler

Chocolate Cobbler is a baked dessert where a cocoa-infused batter is topped with a brown sugar and cocoa mixture, then covered with hot water before baking. This method creates a dense, fudgy pudding-like texture beneath a soft cake layer, providing a rich chocolate flavor without mixing after the water is added. It's well-suited for serving warm topped with ice cream or whipped cream.

Description

The Chocolate Cobbler combines a batter of flour, baking powder, sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and oil poured into a baking dish. A topping of brown sugar and additional cocoa powder is sprinkled over the batter, then hot water is poured over the top without stirring. As it bakes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, the batter rises and forms a cakey top layer, while the liquid beneath turns into a thick chocolate sauce. The contrast between this soft cake and the gooey bottom creates a comforting dessert texture.

The end result is a rich and moist cobbler with deep cocoa notes from both the batter and topping. Allowing the cobbler to rest after baking helps the dessert set before serving.

This dessert can be enjoyed on its own or paired with cold vanilla ice cream to balance the intense chocolate flavors. It’s a good choice for an oven-baked treat when a simple chocolate pudding style dessert is desired.
