Chocolate Covered Marshmallows

Report
Chocolate Covered Marshmallows feature soft, fluffy marshmallows dipped in melted dark chocolate, then coated with sprinkles for texture and color. The marshmallows become enveloped in a smooth, hard chocolate shell after chilling, creating a sweet treat with a contrast of gooey inside and firm outside. These can be served on skewers for easy handling and presentation.

Description

This recipe involves skewering individual marshmallows and dipping them into melted dark chocolate. The chocolate-coated marshmallows are then rolled in sprinkles before setting in the refrigerator, where the chocolate hardens to form a thin shell. Adding coconut oil to the chocolate mixture can help it set more firmly and with a shinier finish.

The result is a simple confection combining the airy texture of marshmallows with the bittersweet firmness of dark chocolate, complemented by the crunchy contrast from assorted sprinkles. Presentation on skewers mimics a bouquet, making them fun for gatherings or gifts.

These treats can be chilled in a tall container with their sticks upright to prevent sticking or melting together. Different types of sticks, like mini skewers, cake pop sticks, or ice lolly sticks, can be used. For an extra rich chocolate coating, a second dip after the first has set can be applied, followed again by sprinkles and refrigeration.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 60 g marshmallows about 5g/0.25oz each
  • 80 g chocolate dark; melted
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Push a marshmallow onto a skewer. Dip in the melted chocolate then the sprinkles.
  2. Repeat with all the marshmallows. Arrange in a jar to look like a bunch of flowers.
  3. Refrigerate until set.

Notes

  • To help chocolate harden faster and form a firmer shell, add a small amount of coconut oil to the melted chocolate before dipping.
  • Store dipped marshmallows upright in a jar or cup in the fridge to cool and prevent sticking.
  • Use mini skewers, cake pop sticks, or ice lolly sticks as holders for dipping and serving.
  • For thicker chocolate layers, dip marshmallows twice, allowing each coat to set before the next, coating with sprinkles after the final dip.
