Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Chocolate Covered Pretzels combine salty and sweet in a crunchy snack that's coated in melted white chocolate and decorated with various toppings. The method involves dipping pretzels individually or partially into tempered white baking chocolate, then immediately adding sprinkles or candy toppings before chilling to set. The contrast between the crisp pretzel and smooth chocolate makes these treats enjoyable for parties or casual snacking.

Description

Chocolate Covered Pretzels feature a base of pretzels varying in shape that are dipped into melted white baking chocolate which acts as a coating and adhesive for assorted sprinkles and candies. The chocolate is melted gently in a microwave, stirred to smoothness, then pretzels are dipped one by one or partially coated as preferred. Excess chocolate is shaken off to avoid mess. After topping with sprinkles, the pretzels are chilled on parchment paper until the coating hardens. These confections balance salty and sweet with contrasting textures.

The snack can be made ahead and stored refrigerated in an airtight container to maintain the hardened chocolate coating and crisp pretzels. The choice of toppings can be tailored to different occasions or personal tastes.

  • 16 oz pretzels shape of your choice, 450g
  • Sprinkles assorted
  • candy toppings assorted

Instructions

  2. Put uncovered bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds. Then remove and stir the chocolate. Repeat until chocolate is completed melted and smooth.
  3. Dip pretzels into the melted chocolate, shaking off excess chocolate before adding your toppings.
  4. Place finished pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Put tray in fridge for approximately 10 minutes, until chocolate completely hardens.
  6. Store pretzels in an airtight container inside the fridge.

Notes

  • Shake off excess chocolate well after dipping to prevent drips and messiness.
  • Add toppings within about 30 seconds of dipping before the chocolate hardens for better adhesion.
  • Hold pretzels over a tray or plate to catch drips and make cleanup easier.
  • You may coat whole pretzels or just half; the latter can retain some crunch and texture contrast.
  • Sprinkling melted chocolate onto pretzels gives an uneven but textured coating distinct from dipping.
  • Dipping two pretzels at once can speed up the process when making large batches.
