Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Description
Chocolate Covered Strawberries start with selecting large, fresh strawberries. They are dipped into melted chocolate that can be milk, dark, white, or candy melts. Shortening may be added to chocolate chips to smooth the melted chocolate. The chocolate coating sets after dipping, sometimes decorated with toppings like nuts, sprinkles, or miniature chips while still wet. An extra chocolate drizzle can be applied once the initial coating hardens.
The chocolate forms a crisp outer layer around the juicy strawberry, creating a contrast of textures and flavors. Setting the dipped berries on parchment ensures they dry evenly without sticking.
This treat is best served soon after the chocolate fully hardens and can be stored at room temperature for up to 24 hours. Using high-quality melting wafers is recommended to achieve a smooth, shiny finish.
