Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Chocolate Covered Strawberries combine fresh strawberries dipped twice in melted milk chocolate for a smooth, thick coating, then optionally drizzled with white chocolate or topped with nuts, sprinkles, or coconut. This creates a glossy, sweet fruit treat with contrasting textures and flavors.

Description

Ripe strawberries are rinsed and dried before dipping into warm melted milk chocolate, then set on parchment to harden. Double dipping creates a thicker, more even chocolate shell. Additional toppings like nuts, shredded coconut, or colorful sprinkles add texture and visual appeal. A white chocolate drizzle adds a contrasting decorative touch.

The chocolate coating solidifies at room temperature, producing a glossy surface that encloses the fresh, juicy strawberry inside. This combination of fresh fruit and sweet chocolate offers a balance of tartness and smooth sweetness. Double dipping ensures a rich chocolate layer.

These strawberries can be prepared up to 24 hours ahead and stored in the refrigerator, properly layered with wax paper to prevent sticking. Leftovers keep for 2-3 days chilled. Choosing high-quality melting wafers or chocolate bars ensures smooth melting and coating.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 pint strawberry 16-24 strawberries, rinsed and dried
  • 1 (10-ounce) bag milk chocolate melting wafers Ghirardelli brand
  • 2 ounces white melting chocolate for drizzle

Toppings

  • Sprinkles chopped nuts, shredded, mini, optional
  • nuts
  • coconut
  • chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place strawberries and a hot pad right next to your pan.
  2. Place milk chocolate in a medium saucepan over low heat and cook, stirring constantly with a rubber spatula, until melted, about 5 minutes. When the chocolate is completely smooth, remove it from the heat and set the pot on the hot pad.
  3. Hold the pot of chocolate at an angle. Grab a strawberry by the stem and dip both sides in the chocolate. Allow excess chocolate to drip off and wipe the bottom of the strawberry on the edge of the pan before placing it on the parchment (this will help prevent chocolate from pooling).
  4. Repeat to dip all the strawberries. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  5. Once the first layer of chocolate has set, repeat the process to double-dip each strawberry, again being sure to wipe off the excess chocolate before returning the berries to the parchment.
  6. This will make them extra chocolatey and smooth on the outside. Let strawberries sit on your counter until hard, about 30 minutes.
  7. Melt white chocolate as described in Step 2 and transfer it to a piping bag or a resealable plastic bag with a small hole cut in the corner.
  8. Drizzle back and forth over dipped strawberries, then immediately add any desired toppings. Let sit for about 15 minutes to set.

Notes

  • Prepare and store chocolate covered strawberries up to 24 hours in advance for best freshness.
  • Layer with wax paper in airtight containers to prevent sticking during refrigeration.
  • Use any two contrasting chocolate types (milk, white, or dark) for dipping and drizzling.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated, separate layers with wax paper, consume within 2-3 days.
