Chocolate Covered Strawberries Recipe

Fresh strawberries coated in smooth melted chocolate create a classic treat that balances juicy fruit with rich sweetness. This recipe uses quality semi-sweet, milk, or white chocolate chips, optionally mixed with coconut oil for extra shine. Properly drying the strawberries before dipping helps the chocolate stick evenly. The cooled dipped berries form a glossy shell that hardens and makes a neat hand-held dessert or gift item.

Description

The Chocolate Covered Strawberries Recipe involves washing and thoroughly drying fresh strawberries before dipping them into melted high-quality chocolate. Using semi-sweet, milk, or white chocolate chips allows customization to taste preferences. Melting the chocolate gradually in the microwave at half power prevents scorching. Dipping the strawberries by the stems and letting excess chocolate drip off creates an even coating. The strawberries cool on parchment paper to set the chocolate. This method yields a firm, glossy chocolate shell paired with juicy, fresh fruit inside. Optional toppings can be added before chocolate hardens.

This treat can be served as a dessert, a party snack, or a romantic gift. The smooth chocolate contrasts the freshness of strawberries, offering a balance of textures and flavors. They pair well on dessert plates or as part of a fruit platter.

For storing, keep these berries in a single layer in the refrigerator and consume within 1 to 2 days for optimal texture. Avoid freezing as it damages the fruit and coating. When preparing large batches, melting chocolate with coconut oil in a fondue pot helps maintain fluidity for dipping.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 pint strawberry fresh
  • 1 (10-ounce) package chocolate chips semi-sweet, milk, or white chocolate (use a high-quality chip)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil optional

Instructions

  1. Prep. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, top with a wire rack and set aside. Line another baking sheet with parchment paper to use for cooling the dipped strawberries. If using any optional toppings, place those onto individual small plates.
  2. Wash and Dry Strawberries. Wash strawberries and then pat dry with paper towels and arrange on the wire rack to completely air dry to make sure chocolate adheres perfectly.
  3. Melt Chocolate. Add chocolate to medium microwave-safe bowl. Heat at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval. Repeat until the chocolate is all melted and smooth. Repeat with additional types of chocolate if making different types - white, dark chocolate, milk, etc.
  4. Dip Strawberries. Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip into the melted chocolate. Lift the strawberry out of the chocolate and slightly twist to allow any additional chocolate to run off back into the bowl of chocolate. If you are adding any optional toppings, dip the chocolate covered strawberry into the topping and then place onto the parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and for the chocolate to harden.
  5. Serve or store. Serve once the chocolate has hardened or store in the refrigerator. Best enjoyed within 48 hours.

Notes

  • Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to allow chocolate to adhere properly.
  • Store strawberries in a single layer in the refrigerator and consume within two days for best quality.
  • Avoid freezing chocolate covered strawberries as it affects texture and appearance.
  • For large quantities, use a fondue pot to keep chocolate melted and smooth during dipping.
