Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are rich cocoa-based treats with a crackled powdered sugar exterior and soft center. This recipe mixes cocoa, sugar, oil, eggs, vanilla, flour, baking powder, and salt into a dough that is chilled to firm it up, then rolled in powdered sugar before baking. The chilled dough creates defined crinkles as the cookie spreads and bakes.

Description

The dough is created by blending unsweetened cocoa powder and granulated sugar with vegetable oil and eggs to form a rich chocolate base. Vanilla and dry ingredients including flour, baking powder, and salt are incorporated until combined. Refrigerating the dough for several hours or overnight firms it, making it easier to handle and promoting well-formed cracks during baking.

Dough balls are rolled in powdered sugar to provide a snowy coating that contrasts with the deep brown cocoa crumb. Baking at 350°F for about 10-12 minutes results in cookies with a tender center and characteristic crinkled outer appearance.

These cookies are straightforward to prepare ahead and store well in airtight containers to maintain softness, making them suitable for holiday baking or daily treats.
