Chocolate Dipped Figs
Description
The figs are halved or quartered as preferred, then dipped into chocolate melted with coconut oil for a glossy coating that hardens upon chilling. The addition of chia seeds or coconut flakes introduces contrasting crunch and flavor complexity to the smooth chocolate and soft fig interior.
This preparation requires chilling the dipped figs in the refrigerator to set the chocolate before serving. It is best enjoyed fresh the same day to preserve the fig's moisture and texture.
Ingredients
- 2 lb figs fresh
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1/4 cup chia seeds
- 1/4 cup coconut flakes
Instructions
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine coconut oil with the chocolate chips. Microwave 20 to 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between to create a smooth and even texture.
- Split figs into halves or fourths, depending on your preference.
- Dip figs into the chocolate as deep as you desire. Place them on a dish lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle figs with your topping of choice (or a couple!).
- Let dipped figs set in a fridge until the chocolate hardens. It's best to serve your figs the same day!
