Chocolate Dipped Pretzels
Description
This treat involves melting semisweet chocolate chips in short bursts to prevent burning, sometimes adding vegetable oil to thin the consistency for easier dipping. Mini pretzels are dipped and flipped in the melted chocolate to ensure full coverage. These chocolate-coated pretzels are then placed on parchment paper to set briefly while the remaining chocolate is used for a decorative drizzle on top. Finally, festive sprinkles are added over the drizzle before allowing the chocolate to fully harden.
The resulting snack balances the saltiness and crunch of the pretzels with a smooth, sweet chocolate coating. The chocolate drizzle and sprinkles add a textured, visually appealing finish. These treats can be served as a festive party snack, dessert, or gift.
Storing them in the refrigerator helps keep the chocolate firm and prevents melting. They can be kept in an airtight container for up to three weeks, making them suitable for advance preparation or gift-giving.
Ingredients
- 54 pretzels about 2 ¼ cups or 86g / 3 oz, mini
- 1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips 300g
- 2 tablespoons Sprinkles Christmas colored
Instructions
- Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
- Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in a heat-safe bowl in 30-second increments until the chocolate is completely melted. (I heat mine in 30-second bursts until melted. Stir after each round so that the chocolate does not burn. If the chocolate is still a little thick after it’s mostly melted, add a tablespoon of vegetable oil to thin it out. This will make it easier for dipping.)
- Dip the pretzels into the melted chocolate. Use forks to dunk and flip the pretzels until coated.
- Place the chocolate dipped pretzels to the prepared sheet pan. Let them set for 10 minutes.
- Transfer the rest of the melted chocolate into a piping bag or a plastic baggie.
- Snip the bag's tip, and drizzle the chocolate over the pretzels to create some texture.
- Sprinkle on the colorful sprinkles.
- Let the chocolate set for 30-45 minutes before transferring to an airtight container and enjoying!
Notes
- Store chocolate dipped pretzels in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep the chocolate firm and prevent melting.
- They can be kept fresh for up to 3 weeks when stored properly.
