Chocolate Dump Cake

Chocolate Dump Cake is a layered dessert that combines chocolate cake mix, instant chocolate pudding, milk, melted butter, and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Ingredients are assembled in a casserole dish without mixing completely, then baked until set with a rich, moist chocolate texture. The top is studded with melting chocolate chips for added richness and gooey pockets.

Description

This recipe starts by spraying a 9x13 casserole dish and layering chocolate cake mix evenly on the base. Instant chocolate pudding mix is sprinkled on top, followed by a mixture of whole milk and melted but cooled butter poured gently over to moisten the dry ingredients. The batter is very lightly whisked to combine without fully blending.

Semi-sweet chocolate chips are scattered over the top before baking at 350°F for 40-45 minutes. Baking produces a moist, tender dessert with the chocolate pudding adding extra creaminess. The cake topping partially cooks into a cakey layer, while chocolate chips melt into soft spots within the dessert.

Serve the cake warm, optionally with ice cream, to balance the richness and add temperature contrast. The dump cake method enables a quick and straightforward chocolate dessert without elaborate mixing or layering.
