Chocolate Frozen Yogurt

Chocolate Frozen Yogurt is a creamy frozen dessert made by blending plain whole-milk yogurt with dark cocoa powder, monk fruit sweetener, agave syrup, vanilla extract, and milk, then freezing until firm. The use of yogurt provides a tangy base while the cocoa delivers deep chocolate flavor. After freezing in an ice cream machine, it may be re-spun for smooth texture and served immediately.

Description

This dessert recipe combines plain whole-milk yogurt with sweetener, cocoa powder, agave syrup, vanilla extract, milk, and a pinch of salt, whisked together until smooth. The mixture is frozen flat for 24 hours to set before processing in a compatible ice cream machine set to the ice cream function. If the texture is crumbly after initial processing, it can be re-spun to achieve creaminess.

The resulting frozen yogurt has a rich chocolate flavor with a slight tang from the yogurt base, offering a lighter alternative to traditional ice cream. It can be served immediately after churning and topped with favorite ice cream toppings such as whipped cream, chocolate syrup, or sprinkles for added texture and sweetness.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3/4 cup whole milk yogurt plain, Stonyfield Organic brand
  • 3 tablespoons Monk Fruit Sweetener or sugar, or sweetener of choice, with erythritol
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons dark cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon agave syrup raw
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk I used 2%, of choice
  • pinch salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl whisk the yogurt, monk fruit sweetener, cocoa powder, agave and vanilla extract until dissolved.
  2. Whisk in the milk to combine.
  3. Pour into an empty Creami pint. Place storage lid on pint and freeze flat (make sure it’s not on an angle) for 24 hours.
  4. Remove pint from freezer and remove the lid.
  5. Assemble bowl into machine as referred to in the manual and select ICE CREAM.
  6. When processing is complete, open and if it looks crumbly, add it back to the machine and press the re-spin button and process a little more.
  7. Remove ice cream from pint and serve right away.
  8. Top with your favorite ice cream toppings! I love it drizzled with a little chocolate syrup, whipped cream and sprinkles.
