Chocolate Fruit Dip
Description
This dip balances the lightness of whipped heavy cream with the denser, tangy cream cheese base, combined with unsweetened cocoa powder and powdered sugar for sweetness and chocolate flavor. Whipping the cream separately then folding it into the cocoa-cream cheese mixture gives the dip an airy, fluffy texture. Vanilla extract adds a mild aromatic note.
Chilling before serving allows flavors to meld and the dip to firm slightly, making it easier to scoop and enjoyable alongside fresh fruit. The cream cheese should be softened to room temperature before use to ensure smooth blending without lumps.
The dip works well as a simple, indulgent complement to fresh fruit and can be served at casual gatherings or dessert occasions.
Ingredients
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar , divided
- 1 cream cheese 8 oz) pkg, softened
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl using an electric hand mixer, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form, addw 2 Tbsp of the powdered sugar and whip until nearly stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- In a separate mixing bowl whip together cream cheese, 1/4 cup + 2 Tbsp of the powdered sugar, the cocoa powder and vanilla extract until smooth. Mix in whipped cream mixture and remaining 1/2 cup powdered sugar.
- Chill until ready to serve. Serve with strawberries, bananas or raspberries.
Notes
- Use cream cheese softened to room temperature to ensure smooth whipping and no lumps in the dip.
- Chill the dip before serving to allow it to firm and the flavors to develop.
