Chocolate Fudge Frosting Recipe

The Chocolate Fudge Frosting recipe creates a smooth, rich frosting using powdered sugar, cocoa, butter, hot milk, melted bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, and fine sea salt. It is whipped to combine and rested to thicken before spreading on cakes or cupcakes, offering a luscious chocolate coating with balance from the salt.

Description

This frosting starts by combining powdered sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, softened butter, hot milk, vanilla extract, and fine sea salt using a mixer to achieve a uniform, creamy base. Melted bittersweet chocolate is then incorporated for a deeper chocolate flavor and fudge-like richness. After mixing, the frosting is allowed to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to thicken to the ideal spreading consistency.

The result is a chocolate frosting that is smooth and easy to spread but holds shape well on cakes or cupcakes. The inclusion of bittersweet chocolate adds complexity beyond standard cocoa, and the salt enhances overall flavor balance. This frosting pairs well with chocolate or vanilla baked goods.
