Chocolate Ganache

This chocolate ganache combines semisweet chocolate chips with heavy cream to create a smooth, glossy mixture. The gentle heating of cream poured over the chocolate allows precise melting and blending, resulting in a rich, creamy consistency ideal for glazing or filling desserts once set.

Description

The Chocolate Ganache recipe calls for quality semisweet chocolate chips combined with heated heavy cream that is brought just to a simmer, never boiled, to preserve smoothness. Pouring the hot cream over the chocolate, covering, and allowing the mixture to rest enables gradual melting without overheating. Stirring afterward creates a glossy, uniform blend with a silky texture.

This ganache sets firm enough after resting, suitable for coating cakes, filling pastries, or creating decorative glazes. The use of heavy cream rather than lighter dairy ensures thickness and richness, while the quality of chocolate affects the flavor depth and texture.

Using good-quality chocolate chips is important since lower-grade options may contain fillers that prevent proper melting. Avoid substituting half-and-half for cream, as it results in thinner, less stable ganache.
