Chocolate Rum Balls Recipe

Chocolate rum balls are bite-sized treats made from crumbled chocolate cake mixed with dark rum and sweetened condensed milk, then rolled into balls and coated with chocolate sprinkles. These no-bake confections have a moist, rich texture and a pronounced rum flavor, chilled for best results. They make a convenient dessert or festive snack that can be frozen or refrigerated for later enjoyment.

Description

This recipe transforms baked chocolate cake into fudgy rum balls by mixing crumbled cake with dark rum and condensed milk to form a thick dough. The addition of rum provides warmth and depth, balancing the sweetness of the chocolate and condensed milk. Rolling the mixture into balls and coating them in chocolate sprinkles adds a textured finish and extra chocolate flavor.

The rum balls are frozen individually on a baking sheet before transferring to a sealed container for storage, which helps maintain their shape. They benefit from a few days in the refrigerator after preparation, allowing the flavors to meld and the texture to firm up. Alternatively, they can be kept frozen until ready to serve.

This treat provides an easy way to use leftover cake and can be adapted with different types of rum or spirit. While nutritional information will vary depending on the cake base used, these bite-sized sweets are rich and flavorful.
