Description
This recipe begins with preparing a boxed chocolate cake as directed, which is cooled and cut into cubes. Meanwhile, instant chocolate pudding is mixed with milk and half of the Cool Whip to create a creamy layer. The trifle is assembled by layering cake cubes, crushed Oreo cookies, and the pudding-Cool Whip mixture twice, finishing with a topping of the remaining Cool Whip.
The top is decorated with Hershey's chocolate syrup poured from the center outward and swirled to resemble a spider web design using a toothpick, then garnished with a plastic spider for effect. This dessert offers a combination of moist cake, smooth pudding cream, crunchy cookies, and sweet whipped topping, making it suitable for occasions like Halloween.
Ingredients
- 1 box chocolate cake mix plus ingredients on back
- 6.6 oz instant chocolate pudding mix
- 3 cups milk
- 1 large container Cool Whip 16 oz.
- 1 package Oreo cookies
- chocolate syrup Hershey's Syrup brand
- Plastic spider
Instructions
- Make cake as directed on box. Let cool and cut into cubes.
- Make pudding by mixing pudding mixes and milk. Add half the Cool Whip and mix well. Set aside.
- Add half the cake cubes to the bottom of the trifle dish and add half the crushed Oreos. Spread on half the pudding cream mixture and repeat layers.
- Top with remaining Cool Whip.
- Carefully add Hershey's Syrup to the top starting in the middle and swirl around in circles until you get to the edges. Using a toothpick, draw out lines from the center to create syrup web. Add spider. ENJOY!
