Chocolate Sugar Cookies Recipe

Chocolate Sugar Cookies combine cocoa powder with classic sugar cookie ingredients for a tender, slightly crisp cookie with rich chocolate flavor. The dough is prepared simply and baked until just set, creating cookies that balance sweetness and cocoa richness. The recipe uses common pantry ingredients and yields cocoa-infused treats suitable for snack or dessert.

Description

This cookie recipe crests by creaming softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy, then adding an egg for moisture and structure. Dry ingredients include all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, kosher salt, optional espresso powder for depth, and vanilla extract for aroma. The dough is scooped into tablespoon-sized portions, rolled into balls, and slightly pressed before baking to encourage even spreading.

Baking at 350ºF for 8 to 10 minutes yields cookies with a tender crumb and mild crispness on the edges. The cocoa stands out without overwhelming sweetness. The optional espresso powder can enhance the chocolate flavor subtly.

These cookies are straightforward to prepare and freeze well when baked, making them a convenient bake-ahead option for gatherings or everyday treats.
