Chocolate Whipped Cream Frosting Recipe

This Chocolate Whipped Cream Frosting is made by whipping heavy cream with powdered sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and kosher salt to a fluffy, stiff consistency. The frosting holds its shape well, making it suitable for piping onto cakes and cupcakes. Its airy texture and chocolate flavor complement desserts that benefit from a lighter, creamy topping rather than a dense frosting.

Description

The recipe blends heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder, combining sweetness and chocolate intensity. Vanilla extract and kosher salt balance and enhance the flavors. Using a stand mixer with a whisk attachment, the mixture is whipped progressively from low to high speed over several minutes until stiff peaks form, creating a pipeable chocolate whipped cream.

This frosting offers a lighter alternative to butter-based frostings, providing a creamy yet airy texture. It is excellent for decorating cakes or cupcakes, adding a smooth chocolate layer without heaviness.

Store leftover frosting in the refrigerator within an airtight container to maintain texture and freshness for up to two days. Use shortly after preparation for best piping results.
