Ingredients
- 1 leeve saltine crackers aprox. 40 crackers
- 1 cup salted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 12 ounce bag semisweet chocolate chips
Toppings
- ¼ cup red and green m&ms
- 1 Tablespoon toasted pecans
- 1 Tablespoon Sprinkles
- 1 ½ teaspoon salt flakes
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Line a 15.5 inch x 10.5 inch jelly roll baking pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
- Arrange saltines in prepared pan in a single layer, breaking or cutting them, if necessary, to fill all spaces.
- Combine butter and brown sugar in small saucepan over medium heat, and bring to boil, stirring constantly. Cook until thick and syrupy, about 3 minutes.
- Pour toffee mixture over Saltines and spread it out evenly.
- Bake in preheated oven until bubbly, 4 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over toffee layer. Set pan aside until chocolate has melted, then spread evenly over the top. Sprinkle with desired toppings. We wrote the recipe for four different toppings, if you want one over the entire recipe you'll have to adjust the topping amount.
- Refrigerate until chocolate is firm. Cut or break into pieces. We got about 35 pieces.
- Store in airtight container in the fridge for one week or the freezer for 3 months. Refrigeration is not necessary, but helps to keep them fresh.

- I recommend chilling the Christmas crack in the fridge after spreading the chocolate. Freezing it before it is set can result in the chocolate separating from the toffee and crackers.

- I Only Have Unsalted Butter. Can I Still Use That?Yes! Salted butter will give your Christmas Crack a more savory flavor, but unsalted butter will work just fine. Just add a little bit of salt!
- Christmas crack will store best in an airtight container. Refrigeration isn’t necessary, but it will last for about a week if you do decide to keep it in the fridge.
- This is the perfect make ahead Christmas candy because it’s freezer friendly. Place it in an airtight container in your freezer for 3 months in the freezer.
- Use either a heavy duty aluminum foil or cooking spray to keep the Christmas toffee from sticking and tearing the aluminum foil.
