Christmas Crack

Christmas Crack is a sweet and salty bar made with crunchy saltine crackers topped with a buttery brown sugar caramel and melted semi-sweet chocolate. The recipe creates a crispy, crunchy base contrasted by the smooth caramel layer and a rich chocolate topping sprinkled with chopped pecans. This treat combines simple ingredients but produces a layered texture perfect for festive occasions or snacking.

Description

Christmas Crack starts with a base of saltine crackers arranged evenly on a foil-lined baking sheet. A caramel sauce of butter and brown sugar is boiled briefly and poured over the crackers, then baked until bubbly to form a crisp caramelized layer. Once removed from the oven, semi-sweet chocolate chips are sprinkled on top and allowed to melt, then spread evenly to form a smooth chocolate layer.

Soon after, chopped pecans are sprinkled over the chocolate while still soft, adding a nutty crunch to the sweet bars. The layers harden as they cool, yielding a candy-like treat with a crunchy, salty cracker bottom, a chewy caramel center, and a glossy chocolate-pecan topping.

These bars are served by breaking into pieces when fully set and cooled. Their combination of sweet, salty, and nutty flavors makes them a popular holiday gift or party snack.
