Instructions

For the green layer

  1. Place the green Jello powder in a medium bowl. Boil one cup of the water on the stove, then pour the boiling water on top of the Jello. Whisk until the powder dissolves.
  2. Add 1/2 cup of cold water to the gelatin mixture and whisk again.
  3. Add the vodka and whisk until thoroughly blended.
  4. Fill 24 2-ounce shot glasses or plastic cups halfway with the green Jello. Chill for at least one hour. It should be just under 2 tablespoons per cup.

For the red layer

  1. Place the red Jello powder in a medium bowl. Boil one cup of the water on the stove, then pour the boiling water on top of the gelatin.
  2. Whisk until the powder dissolves.
  3. Add 1/2 cup of cold water to the red gelatin mixture and whisk again.
  4. Stir in the vodka and whisk once more.
  5. Pour the red Jello on top of the green Jello layer in the shot glasses. It should be just under 2 tablespoons of red Jello per cup.
  6. Chill for at least 1 1/2 hours or until shots are firm.
  7. When you're ready to serve the shots, top them with some whipped cream or whipped topping and Christmas sprinkles, then serve immediately.

Notes

  • Place your shot glasses or plastic cups on a sheet pan before placing the liquid Jello in them. This makes it easy to carry the pan with all the Jello shots in the refrigerator.
  • To pour the gelatin mixture evenly into the cups, try using a turkey baster to suction the liquid and squirt it in the containers.
  • You can use thawed frozen whipped topping, freshly whipped cream, or an aerosol can of whipped cream to top the shots.
