Christmas Popcorn
Description
The Christmas Popcorn recipe begins by popping plain popcorn and removing unpopped kernels. Vanilla candy coating is melted gently and poured over the popcorn to cover the pieces evenly. M&Ms with a Christmas color scheme are mixed in, followed by spreading the popcorn on parchment paper for additional toppings. Crushed candy canes provide a minty crunch on the surface, while melted red and green candy coatings are drizzled decoratively over the top.
The popcorn is refrigerated to allow the candy coating to firm and set, which stabilizes the mix and enhances texture. The resulting treat combines the crunch of popcorn with smooth, sweet vanilla coating and colorful candies. The crushed candy canes add peppermint flavor and a contrasting crunch.
This snack fits well in holiday parties, gift baskets, or as a seasonal sweet snack. It can be stored in an airtight container for up to two weeks to keep freshness. For those without popcorn bags, an air popper can be used to pop about two-thirds to three-quarters cup of kernels to yield the needed popped volume.
Ingredients
- 2 (2.28-ounce) bags Popcorn plain
- 24 ounces vanilla bark or candy coating
- 2 cups M&Ms candy plain, Christmas variety
- candy canes crushed
- red candy coating
- green candy coating
Instructions
- Pop 2 bags of plain popcorn (about 22 cups of popped corn). Pour it into a bowl making, removing kernels.
- Break the candy coating into squares (it makes it melt better) and place in a pan on low heat. Stir until melted.
- Pour candy coating over the popcorn and mix until evenly coated.
- Add M&Ms and spread out onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Top with crushed candy canes. Melt red and green candy coating separatly and drizzle candy melts on top.
