Christmas Pretzels
Description
Christmas Pretzels are made by arranging mini pretzel twists on a parchment-lined sheet pan. Each pretzel is topped with a dark chocolate Hershey’s Kiss and baked at 200°F briefly until the chocolate softens slightly but does not melt completely. Immediately after removing from the oven, a caramel-filled red or green M&M is pressed onto the center of each kiss. Optional holiday sprinkles may be added on top before the pretzels cool.
After allowing the treats to cool for a few minutes at room temperature, the pan is placed in the freezer for about 20 minutes to set the chocolate firmly. This creates a crisp contrast between the salty pretzel base, the smooth dark chocolate, and the chewy caramel center of the M&M.
These pretzel bites make convenient festive snacks or small party treats. They can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for a week or refrigerated for longer storage. Freezing extends their shelf life up to three months.
Ingredients
- 48 mini pretzels approximately 1 and 3/4 cups, twists
- 48 dark chocolate approximately 3/4 of a 10 ounce bag, Hershey's Kisses
- 48 M&M candies approximately 2 to 3 9.6 ounce packages, red and green, caramel filled
- Sprinkles Christmas
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and line a quarter or half sheet pan with parchment paper, optional.
- Lay 48 mini pretzel twists on the sheet pan and top each pretzel with a dark chocolate Hershey’s kiss.
- Bake in the oven for 4-6 minutes. Chocolate should be soft but not melted. Remove immediately but carefully since pretzels will shift easily.
- Press one caramel M&M onto the center of each kiss and then add sprinkles, optional. Allow pretzels and pan to cool for approximately 3 minutes.
- Place the sheet pan in the freezer to chill for 20 minutes or until firmly set. Serve and enjoy.
Notes
- Watch the chocolate closely to avoid over-softening; it should droop slightly but not melt fully.
- Store finished pretzels at room temperature in an airtight container for up to one week.
- They keep up to two weeks refrigerated and freeze for up to three months.
