Christmas Rice Krispie Treats Recipe
Description
This recipe starts by melting butter and marshmallows together until smooth, creating a sticky base for the cereal. Rice Krispie cereal is gradually stirred in to coat every piece with the marshmallow mixture.
Red and green M&M candies and Christmas-themed sprinkles are gently folded into the mixture, spreading festive colors throughout the treats. The mixture is pressed firmly into a greased 9x13 pan using parchment paper to ensure even thickness and to prevent sticking.
Extra M&Ms and sprinkles are placed on top and gently pressed into the surface to provide visual appeal and additional candy bits throughout. After cooling at room temperature for about an hour, the treats firm up and become ready for slicing and serving.
These treats provide a chewy, sweet dessert or snack with festive colors fitting for the holiday season. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week; refrigeration is not recommended to maintain their gooey texture.
Ingredients
- 10 cups rice krispie cereal
- 6 Tbsp butter
- 2 pkg marshmallows 10 oz each
- 2 cups M&M candies red and green colors
- 2 Tbsp Sprinkles Christmas
Instructions
- Spray a 9X13 pan with a non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
- Place the butter and marshmallow in a sauce pan and melt over low heat stirring frequently.
- Once the ingredients are melted and combined, remove from heat and gradually stir in the Rice Krispie Cereal. Mix until the cereal is coated in the marshmallow and butter mixture.
- Then gently fold in the M&Ms and sprinkles (reserve some for topping).
- Press the mixture into the 9X13 pan. I spray a piece of parchment paper with non-stick spray and use that parchment paper to press the cereal down into the baking dish.
- Then top with the reserved M&Ms and sprinkles. Gently press these down so that they stick into the Rice Krispie treats.
- Let the Rice Krispie treats sit at room temperature for 1 hour and then they are ready to slice, serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Store leftover Rice Krispie treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
- Avoid refrigerating these treats to keep them gooey and tender.
