Christmas Wreath Cookies

Christmas Wreath Cookies are made by melting butter and mini marshmallows, then mixing with green food coloring, almond and vanilla extracts, and cornflakes cereal. The mixture is shaped into wreaths with a hole in the center, decorated with cinnamon red hot candies to resemble berries. After cooling and setting, these treats become a festive, chewy cereal snack perfect for holiday gifting or serving.

Description

This recipe melts the marshmallows and butter to create a sticky, sweet base that coats the cornflakes evenly. Adding green food coloring and extracts infuses the mixture with flavor and color reminiscent of holiday wreaths. Forming the mixture into wreath shapes by making a hole in the center and adding red hot candies simulates the look of traditional decorated wreaths, visually enhancing the presentation.

Once set, the cookies have a chewy texture with a blend of sweet marshmallow and spicy cinnamon notes from the red hot candies. This treat is quick to assemble, requires no baking besides melting, and serves as a festive snack or gift. The recipe yields 8 to 10 wreath cookies depending on size.

Storing in a greased airtight container with wax paper between layers prevents sticking and preserves freshness for up to a week. These cookies can also be wrapped and frozen for longer storage, maintaining their texture and flavor.

  • 1 teaspoon green food coloring
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups cornflakes cereal
  • 1 (2.25-ounce) package cinnamon red hot candies

  6. Makes 8-10 wreaths.

Notes

  • Store cookies in a lightly greased airtight container separated by wax paper to keep them fresh for 5-7 days.
  • For longer storage, wrap and freeze the cookies together in a freezer-safe bag for 4-6 weeks.
