Churro Popcorn Recipe
Description
The Churro Popcorn Recipe blends plain popped popcorn with a melted vanilla bean candy coating, which hardens to give each piece a crisp, sweet exterior. The popcorn is evenly coated and then sprinkled with a cinnamon and sugar mixture, lending a warm, spicy note reminiscent of churros. Chilling the coated popcorn briefly helps the candy set, while bringing it to room temperature before eating prevents it from becoming too hard. This process results in a snack that is crunchy yet pleasantly sweet and spiced.
To serve, spread the coated popcorn on parchment paper so it cools evenly and can be enjoyed as a handheld treat. Its textural contrast makes it suitable for casual snacking or festive occasions where a sweet, crunchy nibble is welcome.
Ingredients
- 2 .29 oz bags Popcorn plain
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 24 oz vanilla bean or Candy Coating, also known as vanilla bark
Instructions
- Start by popping the popcorn. When it's done pour it into a bowl and try not to get any of the kernels in it.
- While popcorn is popping, make cinnamon sugar mixture by combining the two. Set aside.
- Break your candy coating into squares (it makes it melt better) and place in a pan on low heat. Stir until it is all melted.
- Pour candy coating over the popcorn and mix until all the popcorn is coated.
- Spread out onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture.
- Refrigerate for a bit but take out ½ hour before you eat it so it's not so hard. ENJOY!
