Cilantro Lime Air Fryer Shrimp Skewers

Cilantro Lime Air Fryer Shrimp Skewers feature marinated shrimp seasoned with garlic, paprika, cumin, and fresh lime juice, threaded on skewers and cooked quickly in an air fryer or grill. The result is juicy shrimp infused with bright citrus and herb flavors, accented by smoky spices. This straightforward preparation yields a flavorful dish that benefits from quick cooking to keep shrimp tender and moist.

Description

This recipe involves tossing raw, peeled, and deveined shrimp in a marinade of lemon juice, garlic puree, paprika, cumin, and salt. The citrus provides acidity to brighten the shrimp; the garlic and spices add depth and a mild smoky warmth. After marinating briefly, the shrimp are threaded onto soaked wooden skewers to facilitate even cooking.

The shrimp can be cooked either in an air fryer preheated to 350°F or on a medium-heat grill. Air frying involves turning the skewers halfway through a total cook time of 5-8 minutes, while grilling requires 2-3 minutes per side. Both methods produce shrimp that are opaque and tender with a slightly charred exterior. Fresh chopped cilantro and additional lime slices garnish the skewers, adding fresh herbaceous notes and extra citrus brightness.

This dish pairs well with sides like Mexican rice, sweet potato fries, or cauliflower wings and is a zero-point option for Weight Watchers when prepared without non-compliant additions.

Because air fryer temperatures vary, it is advised to monitor shrimp doneness starting with less cook time to avoid overcooking. The marinade also works well on other proteins. Make sure skewers fit in the air fryer basket for optimal cooking.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1/2 lb Shrimp peeled and deveined, raw
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic puree
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin ground
  • lemon juice of 1
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp cilantro fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Instructions

Air Fryer Instructions:

  1. Soak 6 wooden skewers for 15-20 mins before needed.
  2. Preheat air fryer to 350 F (180C).

  7. Transfer shrimp to a plate and serve with chopped cilantro (coriander) and extra lime slices.

Grill Instructions:

  1. Preheat the grill (or barbeque) to medium.
  2. Oil the grill plate (make sure use an oil approved for your dietary considerations).
  3. Place shrimp on a griddle on the hot barbeque or grill.
  4. Cook for 2-3 mins on each side until they are cooked through.
  5. Transfer to a plate and serve.

Notes

  • Cooking times will vary by shrimp size; start with less time and adjust to avoid overcooking.
  • Ensure soaked wooden skewers fit your air fryer basket; trim if necessary.
  • Use the marinade for chicken, fish, or pork for similar flavor results.
  • Check doneness visually to prevent toughness; shrimp should be opaque throughout.
  • Serve with complementary sides like Mexican rice or sweet potato fries for a complete meal.
