Cilantro Lime Shrimp
Description
This Cilantro Lime Shrimp recipe uses peeled, deveined jumbo shrimp tossed with olive oil, minced garlic, lime juice, cilantro, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. The shrimp are cooked immediately in a hot skillet for 1-2 minutes per side until just pink and opaque. The quick cooking keeps the shrimp tender and juicy, while the lime and cilantro add a fresh, bright flavor that complements the subtle heat from the paprika and cumin.
The dish is served warm, optionally topped with extra lime juice and chopped cilantro to enhance the citrus-herb notes. It can be a standalone protein, a topping for rice or salad, or accompaniment to tortillas for tacos.
It’s important not to marinate the shrimp for longer than 10 minutes to avoid toughness from the lime juice. Leftovers should be refrigerated in an airtight container and consumed within three days for best quality.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds Shrimp peeled and deveined jumbo
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons garlic minced
- 1 lime juiced
- 3 Tablespoons cilantro chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a large bowl mix together the shrimp, olive oil, minced garlic, lime juice, cilantro, paprika, cumin, salt and pepper, Stir to coat the shrimp in the oil and seasonings.
- Preheat a large skillet over medium high heat.
- Once the pan is hot, add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Let the shrimp cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Flip the shrimp over and cook the other side for 1-2 more minutes until the shrimp is cooked through and pink. You may have to work in batches depending on the size of your pan.
- Transfer the shrimp to a plate.
- Serve topped with more fresh lime juice and cilantro if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Cook shrimp immediately after coating; marinating longer than 10 minutes with lime juice can toughen the shrimp.
- Serve warm, adding extra fresh lime juice and chopped cilantro if desired.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
