  • 1 pound challah bread or french bread, or cinnamon bread, loaf
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon divided
  • 5 egg
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla divided
  • 1 (20 ounce can) apple pie filling or make your own
  • 1/2 cup walnuts chopped
  • 1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk (adjust the amount of milk to desired consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Either spray with cooking spray or grease and flour a 9x13 baking dish.
  3. Cut or tear bread into 1-inch bite size pieces. Spread evenly into the baking dish.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together cream, milk, sugar, eggs, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  5. Pour mixture over bread cubes and let sit about 5 minutes.
