Cinnamon Roll Baked Donuts

Cinnamon Roll Baked Donuts combine a spiced batter with a cinnamon sugar topping cooked in donut pans. The batter incorporates flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon, and buttermilk, and is baked over a buttery cinnamon brown sugar sauce in the pan. A light glaze of powdered sugar and cream finishes the donuts with sweetness and moisture.

Description

This recipe layers a cinnamon brown sugar topping into greased donut pan wells, made from melted butter, cinnamon, dark brown sugar, milk, cornstarch, and vanilla, heated until bubbly. On top, a batter blending all-purpose flour, white sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, buttermilk, egg, vanilla, and oil is spooned evenly into the wells.

After baking at 325°F for about 10 minutes, the donuts firm up with a soft crumb and a spiced aroma, while some cinnamony topping adheres to the donut base creating a sticky, flavorful bottom. Cooling slightly on a wire rack allows them to set. A simple glaze of powdered sugar and heavy cream adds a shiny, sweet finish.

These baked donuts offer the warm spices of a cinnamon roll in a gently textured baked form without frying. They are suited for breakfast or dessert and can be customized by adjusting the cinnamon topping or glaze. The method avoids deep frying while maintaining a tender, sweet baked treat.
