Cinnamon Sugar Buns Recipe
Description
The recipe transforms soft bakery buns, such as King's Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls, by coating them in a mixture of melted butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon. Each bun is dipped quickly into this glaze, then arranged on a baking sheet. Baking at 350°F warms the buns through and sets the coating.
A final broil step caramelizes the cinnamon sugar topping just enough to create a thin crust on the surface without burning. This adds a subtle crunch to the otherwise soft and fluffy roll, enhancing the eating experience with warm spices and sweetness.
These buns are served warm directly from the oven, ideal as a breakfast treat or a sweet accompaniment to meals. They provide a quick way to elevate ordinary dinner rolls with minimal ingredients and effort.
Ingredients
- 24 bakery buns I like to use King’s Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls, soft yeasty
- 1 cup butter salted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Quickly dunk each bun in the butter mixture. Wipe the excess off into the bowl and place them on the baking sheet. If you run low on butter mixture, roll the last few buns around in the pan drippings.
- Bake the buns for 8 minutes. Leave the buns in the oven. Turn the oven to broil, and broil for 1-2 minutes. Just long enough for the tops to get a little crusty. (Watch closely so they don't burn.) Serve warm.
