Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels
Description
Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels combine store-bought pretzel twists with a simple mixture of melted unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon. The butter warps the sugar mixture onto each pretzel, and baking at a moderate temperature crisps the pretzels while caramelizing the cinnamon sugar coating. Careful stirring during baking prevents scorching and ensures even coverage. After cooling, the pretzels develop a crunchy, sweet exterior layered with warm cinnamon flavor.
This snack balances sweet spice with the familiar salty crunch of pretzels, making it suitable for casual snacking or parties. The pretzels can be stored in sealed bags to retain crispness and sweetness for over a week once fully cooled.
Watch the pretzels closely during baking to avoid burning, especially if the oven runs hot, and stir every 5 to 10 minutes for an even bake. Allow sufficient cooling time after removing from the oven for the coating to harden properly.
Ingredients
- 15 oz. pretzel twists 1 bag
- 8 tablespoons butter melted / 1 stick, unsalted
- ½ cup granulated sugar 100g
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a nonstick baking mat, and set aside.
- Pour the pretzel twists into a large mixing bowl.
- Drizzle the butter on top of them. Use a rubber spatula to toss until all the pretzels are coated.
- In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon, stirring until mixed.
- Pour the cinnamon sugar mixture on top of the pretzels, and toss until all the pretzels are coated.
- Transfer the pretzels to the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the pretzels for 30 minutes, gently stirring them with a heat-safe spoon or spatula every 5-10 to ensure all parts of the pretzels bake and do not burn.
- Please keep an eye on your pretzels because if your oven is running hot, they can burn!
- When the pretzels have baked for 30 minutes and no longer appear wet, remove from the oven, and let cool completely. This will take 20-45 minutes, just depending.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Once the pretzels have cooled completely, store them in a sealed gallon-sized plastic bag with excess air removed to maintain freshness for over a week.
