Citrus habanero salsa
Description
The Citrus habanero salsa combines multiple types of peeled and supreme-style segmented citrus fruits, giving the salsa a mix of sweet, tart, and slightly bitter notes. The finely diced habanero peppers add significant heat, balanced by the fresh, sharp flavor of red onion.
The lime juice brightens the whole salsa while ground cumin introduces a warm, earthy spice. Finely chopped cilantro adds herbaceous freshness, and salt adjusts overall taste. Mixing the ingredients and allowing the salsa to marinate for at least 30 minutes encourages the flavors to meld thoroughly.
Use gloves when handling habaneros, as their heat can irritate skin. This salsa can accompany grilled meats, seafood, or be a spicy topping for tacos or salads, adding a lively citrus and pepper kick.
