Classic Apple Crumble

Classic Apple Crumble features diced Granny Smith apples tossed with spices and sweetened filling, topped with a crunchy oat, nut, and brown sugar mixture. Baking creates a warm, golden crust over tender, spiced apples, offering contrast between soft fruit and crumbly topping.

Description

Classic Apple Crumble precisely balances diced Granny Smith apples tossed in cornstarch, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The filling provides tartness with subtle spice. The topping combines oats, slivered almonds, chopped walnuts, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cold butter, mixed until clumpy. This mixture bakes into a golden, crisp crust over the tender apple base.

The recipe yields a dessert served warm with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce, enhancing richness and texture. Baking time of 30 to 40 minutes ensures a golden crumble ideal for serving after a brief rest.
