Classic Kotleti (Meatballs)

Classic Kotleti are ground chicken meatballs mixed with soaked bread, egg, mayonnaise, grated onion, and seasonings. The bread soaked in milk provides moisture and tenderness, while the mayo adds a subtle richness. The patties are pan-fried to a golden brown, developing a crisp exterior and a tender interior. This recipe highlights traditional Eastern European flavors and techniques for a homestyle meat dish.

Description

Classic Kotleti use ground chicken combined with milk-soaked bread to create a soft mixture that holds together well when cooked. Eggs and mayonnaise enrich the mixture, while grated onion adds flavor and moisture. Seasoned with salt and pepper, the meatballs are shaped and fried in neutral oil over medium heat, ensuring a crisp crust and fully cooked center.

The texture is soft and juicy due to the bread and milk combination, and the frying method provides a pleasant contrast between the crust and interior. This dish works well served with potatoes, salads, or as part of a larger meal.
