Classic No Bake Cookies
Description
This recipe involves mixing sugar, milk, and unsweetened cocoa powder in a saucepan and heating it until it reaches a rolling boil. Butter is melted in the mixture before removing it from heat to stir in peanut butter, vanilla, and old-fashioned oats. The dough is dropped by spoonfuls onto parchment-lined sheets to cool and set. The lack of baking preserves the chewy, slightly fudgy texture of the oats combined with the chocolate and peanut butter flavors.
The rolling boil step ensures the proper thickening and setting of the cookies. Variations in milk types affect richness, and creamy peanut butter gives a smooth consistency. These no bake cookies are convenient when you want a quick chocolaty cookie without heating the oven.
They can be chilled after setting for a firmer texture. The oats provide chewiness and some bite. This classic combination is an easy way to make a tried-and-true chocolate-peanut cookie.
