Classic Vanilla Milkshake

This Classic Vanilla Milkshake combines vanilla ice cream, whole milk, and vanilla extract to create a creamy and smooth drink with a rich vanilla flavor. Chilled thoroughly before blending and served cold, it's a simple treat that balances sweetness and creaminess. It can be topped with whipped cream for extra indulgence, making it a satisfying choice for dessert or a refreshment on a warm day.

Description

The Classic Vanilla Milkshake blends vanilla ice cream and whole milk with a touch of vanilla extract, producing a thick and creamy texture with a pure vanilla taste. The process involves chilling the serving glasses beforehand and blending the cold ingredients briefly to maintain a smooth consistency without melting the ice cream excessively. This technique preserves the shake's thickness and coldness.

Serving the milkshake immediately in chilled glasses keeps it appetizing and prevents thinning. Adding whipped cream on top is optional but adds a light, airy finish. For variations, ice can be added for thickness or alternative dairy-free products used to suit dietary preferences.

The recipe's simplicity allows for quick preparation with a few quality ingredients, relying on full-fat ice cream and milk to achieve the classic rich flavor profile expected from a traditional vanilla milkshake.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup milk whole
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Whipped Cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the milkshake glasses in the freezer for up to 10 minutes.
  2. Make sure vanilla ice cream and milk are completely cold.
  3. Place the cold vanilla ice cream and whole milk in the blender.
  4. Add in vanilla extract.
  5. Blend for 20 to 30 seconds.
  6. Divide between two very cold glasses. Top with whipped cream and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use full-fat vanilla ice cream and whole milk for the creamiest texture.
  • Chill glasses ahead to keep the milkshake colder longer.
  • Adding ice will make the shake thicker but serve immediately to avoid melting.
  • Substitute frozen yogurt for a lighter version.
  • For dairy-free, use plant-based ice cream and milk alternatives like almond or oat milk.
