Coca Cola Cake

Coca Cola cake is an easy-to-make chocolate cake, topped with pecans and ooey-gooey chocolate frosting. It is so easy and absolutely delicious, you are going to love this cake and its subtle soda flavor!

Cake

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup butter unsalted
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup Coca-Cola

Frosting

  • 1/2 cup Coca-Cola
  • 1 ½ cup butter unsalted
  • 5 Tablespoon cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • dash of salt
  • pecans optional, or walnuts, chopped

Instructions

Coca Cola Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°. Spray a 9x13 pan with pan spray and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt.
  3. In a medium sauce pan add the butter, cocoa powder, buttermilk, vegetable oil and coke and bring to a boil. Once boiling, remove from the heat and pour in with the dry ingredients and whisk until combined.
  4. Pour into the prepared 9x13 pan and bake for about 30 minutes, until the center is set and a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool while the frosting is prepared.

Frosting

  1. In the same sauce pan that was used for the cake batter, add the butter cocoa powder and coca cola. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  2. Remove from the heat and pour into the bowl of a stand mixer and add the powdered sugar. Beat until smooth. Pour over the top of the warm cake. Sprinkle chopped nuts, if desired.
