Coffee Margarita Recipe (Espresso Margarita)

The Coffee Margarita combines tequila, fresh lime juice, coffee liqueur, and coffee simple syrup in a chilled cocktail with a salted rim. The addition of coffee elements gives this traditional margarita variation a bittersweet richness and depth. The coffee syrup is made by dissolving sugar into brewed coffee and cooled before mixing.

Description

The Coffee Margarita Recipe blends two ounces of tequila with one ounce lime juice, half an ounce each of coffee liqueur and coffee simple syrup. This cocktail is stirred with ice in a mixer to chill thoroughly before serving. A glass rim is moistened with lime and dipped in salt, then filled with ice and the coffee margarita pour. Garnishing with lime completes the drink.

The coffee simple syrup, made by warming brewed coffee with granulated sugar until the sugar dissolves, adds subtle coffee sweetness distinct from the liqueur. It can be scaled up easily by maintaining a 2:1 coffee to sugar ratio for batch preparation. Chilling and stirring the drink rather than shaking helps keep a smooth texture and balanced flavor profile.

This espresso-inspired margarita offers a cocktail with bright citrus, warm tequila notes, and the rich influence of coffee, suitable for after-dinner drinks or special occasions.
