Instructions

  1. Pour 1 cup of heavy whipping cream into the mixing bowl.
  2. Use an electric mixer to beat the heavy whipping cream until it thickens.
  3. After that, pour ½ cup of sweet condensed milk into the cream.
  4. Next, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix it well.
  5. Add 1 teaspoon of classic blue food coloring into the cream mixture. You can reduce or increase the amount of coloring to your preference. (You can use natural blue food coloring like Watkins blue food coloring, blue spirulina powder or butterfly pea flowers powder. If you use Watkins blue food coloring, you may need a whole small bottle 0.3 fl oz. But, the texture is slightly different.)
  6. Mix the blue food coloring well, but not over mixing it.
  7. After, use your hands to break the 6 Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookies and 6 Oreos into small chunks. (You can freeze the cookies for 10-15 minutes before mixing them in to prevent them from becoming too soft or soggy in the ice cream. This is optional.)
  8. Put ½ of the cookie chunks into the blue cream mixture. Use the spatula to fold and mix with the cream mixture.
  9. The following step, pour the cream mixture into a container and use the spatula to level it off.
  10. Add the rest of the cookie chunks on the top of the blue cream mixture. Then, cover it with a plastic wrap and freeze it for 6-8 hours.
  11. When the Cookie Monster ice cream is done, remove the plastic wrap.
  12. Leave the ice cream on the countertop for 1-2 minutes because it is easier for scooping out and serving.

Notes

  • Blue food coloring: You can use gel or liquid food coloring. If you want more natural food coloring, you can try to use blue spirulina powder, butterfly pea flowers powder or Watkins blue food coloring.
  • Adding food coloring: Add a teaspoon of blue food coloring then mix it well with a spatula or electric mixer. Add more or less coloring as needed to achieve the desired blue. If using natural colorings like blue spirulina powder or butterfly pea flowers powder, mix in gradually until you get the right color.
  • Cookies: The choice for cookies are chocolate chips cookies and Oreo.
  • Crush or break the cookies into bite-sized pieces. Fold them into the blue ice cream to ensure they are evenly distributed. Also, you can freeze the cookies for 10-15 minutes before mixing them in to prevent them from becoming too soft or soggy in the ice cream.
  • Mix-ins: You can use other add-ins like chocolate chips, sprinkles, fudge swirls, or caramel to enhance flavor and texture.
  • Fold them in gently to avoid over-mixing.
  • Transfer the mixture to an airtight container. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  • After that, place the container in the freezer for at least 6-8 hours, or until the ice cream is firm.
  • Remember to let the ice cream sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping because it is easier to serve.
