Cooking Frozen Italian Sausage In Instant Pot

This recipe guides cooking thick frozen Italian sausages in an Instant Pot using tinned tomatoes and herbs like oregano and thyme. It allows cooking sausages directly from frozen without stirring during pressure cooking, resulting in tender sausages infused with a lightly seasoned tomato sauce. The method is convenient for a quick main dish, and the sauce can be varied according to preference.

Description

Cooking Frozen Italian Sausage In Instant Pot involves layering frozen thick Italian sausages on top of tinned tomatoes seasoned with oregano, thyme, salt, and black pepper inside the Instant Pot. The sausages cook under pressure for four minutes without stirring, which helps maintain their shape while allowing flavors from the herbs and tomato to gently infuse. This straightforward approach is especially useful for cooking sausages from frozen safely and efficiently. The result is tender sausages with a mildly herbed tomato base, which can be served as is or paired with sides like pasta or polenta.

The recipe notes suggest flexibility in the choice of cooking sauce, encouraging substitution of the tinned tomatoes with preferred sauces that complement Italian sausages. The total weight mentioned indicates portion awareness and acknowledges variations in sausage thickness, which may slightly affect cooking outcomes.
