Copycat Air Fryer Chick Fil A Nuggets

This Copycat Air Fryer Chick Fil A Nuggets recipe produces bite-sized chicken pieces coated with a seasoned flour and powdered sugar mix, dipped in an egg and milk wash, and air fried to a crispy texture. The seasoning blend includes garlic salt, seasoned salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika, which enhances the breading. Olive oil spray is used for crisping during air frying. The method allows making a flavorful, crispy nugget reminiscent of the fast-food version.

Description

The recipe starts with cutting boneless, skinless chicken breast into bite-sized pieces seasoned with garlic salt, seasoned salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. The chicken is then dipped into a beaten egg mixed with milk and coated in a flour and powdered sugar mixture, which balances sweetness and seasoning in the coating.

Coated pieces are shaken gently in a bag to evenly distribute the flour mixture. The nugget pieces are arranged in an air fryer basket and sprayed with olive oil before cooking at 375°F for 12 minutes, turning and spraying halfway through to promote even crispness and browning.

The result is golden, crispy chicken nuggets with a complex flavor profile from the seasoning and powdered sugar, similar to Chick Fil A's nuggets. These can be served with fries or chips and paired with favorite dipping sauces. Adjust seasonings based on chicken quantity for taste.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 - 2 pound chicken breast cut into bite size pieces, boneless skinless
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • olive oil spray form

Instructions

  1. First; Cut the chicken in bite size pieces, sprinkle with the garlic salt, seasoned salt, and pepper.
  2. Break the egg in a medium size bowl, and beat the egg with a whisk until it's a lemon yellow color, and frothy.
  3. Add milk to egg and stir well.
  4. In a large Ziploc bag, add the flour and powdered sugar, and shake to mix.
  5. Dip the chicken in the milk/egg mixture, and drop the chicken pieces into the bag of flour/powdered sugar.
  6. When you have several pieces of chicken in the bag (probably 20 pieces), twist the top of the bag so the flour doesn't spill out, and gently shake the chicken pieces in the bag to coat.
  7. Place the breaded chicken pieces in the basket of the air fryer and spray the pieces with the Spray Olive Oil until they're coated.
  8. Set the Air Fryer temperature on 375, and set the time to 12 minutes.
  9. Turn the chicken pieces half way through baking, and spray the other side with the Spray Olive Oil.
  10. When the pieces of chicken are done, remove from the air fryer to a serving plate, and serve immediately. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Adjust garlic salt and black pepper amounts to taste, especially if using 2 pounds of chicken.
  • Serve with french fries, potato chips, and preferred dipping sauces for a complete meal.
