Cosmic Brownie Recipe (Tastes Like the Real Thing!)

The Cosmic Brownie Recipe delivers a rich, chocolaty treat with a dense and fudgy texture. The batter combines butter, cocoa powder, sugars, eggs, and flour, baked to a tender but set consistency. A smooth chocolate frosting with a mix of semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips, heavy cream, and a touch of vanilla is topped with candy-coated chocolate chips for added texture and color. This brownie appeals to those seeking a classic brownie with an indulgent frosting, suitable for dessert or a sweet snack.

Description

The Cosmic Brownie Recipe features a thick batter of melted butter mixed with natural cocoa powder and a blend of granulated and brown sugars, creating a deep chocolate flavor base. Eggs and vanilla add structure and aroma, while the combination of all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and salt ensures a tender crumb and just enough rise. Baking in a 13x9 pan at 350°F for 16 to 18 minutes results in a fudge-like texture that is moist but holds together.

Once cooled, the brownies are covered with a creamy frosting made by melting semisweet and milk chocolate chips with heavy cream, then adding vanilla and a pinch of salt for balance. The frosting is spread evenly and decorated with candy-coated chocolate chips, adding a slight crunch and colorful presentation. The contrast between the dense brownie and the silky frosting creates a layered dessert experience.

This recipe is well suited for gatherings, lunchbox treats, or any time a classic rich brownie is desired. The cooling time before frosting allows the texture to settle, ensuring clean slices. The visual appeal from the candy-coated chips adds a nostalgic touch reminiscent of a well-known commercial treat.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 12 Tablespoons butter cut into Tablespoon-sized pieces
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder natural
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 egg large; plus 1 large egg yolk lightly beaten
  • 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Frosting

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup milk chocolate chips
  • cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoons candy coated chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare a 13x9 pan by lightly greasing and flouring, or line with parchment paper.  Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Place butter in a large, microwave-safe bowl, and microwave until completely melted.
  3. Stir in cocoa powder.
  4. Add sugars, and stir well.
  5. Add eggs, one at a time, stirring well after each addition.
  6. Stir in vanilla extract.  Set aside.
  7. In a separate, medium-sized bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch (cornflour for UK), and salt.
  8. Gradually stir dry ingredients into wet until completely combined.
  9. Evenly spread into prepared pan and bake on 350F (177C) and bake for 16-18 minutes.  Allow to cool completely before frosting.

Frosting

  1. Combine chocolate chips and heavy cream in a medium-sized saucepan over medium-low heat.  Stir well until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is smooth.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and salt.  Allow to cool 5-10 minutes before proceeding.
  3. Evenly pour frosting over brownies, using a spatula to spread evenly.
  4. Immediately sprinkle candy chips over top.  Allow frosting to harden (about 1 hour) before cutting and eating (this can be sped up if you place the brownies in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes).
