Crust and Topping:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar white
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter cut into small chunks, cold
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest

Filling:

  • 16 oz Cranberry fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Grease a 9×13 baking pan with butter or cooking spray, and line with parchment.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, zest, and baking powder.
  4. Add the butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry blender or fork, work the mixture until fine crumbs form.
  5. Add the egg and mix it into the mixture until fully combined.
  6. Press about 3 cups of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan, that is the crust.
  7. Set aside the remaining crumb mixture for the topping.
  8. In a large bowl, combine the cranberries, sugar, and cornstarch and mix well.
  9. Add the cranberries on top of the crust.
  10. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture on top of the cranberries.
  11. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is slightly golden.
  12. Cool to room temperature. Slice and serve.
